Why don't teachers enter educational contests?

We often have difficulty enticing teachers to enter contests, even those that we think will be really fun and educational, and which come with fantastic prizes. Any ideas from the Community on why that might be? What would prevent you from entering yourself or your students in an educational contest? Here's an example of a cool contest with minimal entries to date:

Thanks for your input!

I think that there are several reasons why a teacher wouldn't enter a contest:

-restraints on the curriculum that needs to be taught, and the curriculum does not include what the contest is looking for

    -lack of time

    -lack of flexibility

-school policies on submitting student work & personal information to contests

However, there are MANY wonderful reasons to enter contests:

-to build cooperation, collaboration, leadership & teamwork skills

    -to promote creativity

    -recognition

    -motivation

-practice following the established parameters/rules of a contest

-an opportunity to see what other students around the country/world are doing & how they interpret things differently/similarly

    -to win

We contstantly update our blog with information about different contests that are currently available to you & your students.  Please check them out at:  http://www.enrichment4kids.com/our-blog.php
