Why does the search tool now require a keyword?

One of the best features of the Marcopolo/Thinkfinity search tool has always been that it didn't require a search word. When introducing Thinkfinity to teachers they could just pick their grade level and subject and see what kind of resources are here. Keywords came later. It's hard to put in search words if you don't know what's available to search!  Please set it back!

    Hi Forrest,

The only constant in life is change. We have a new Keyword/Standards Search to work with and learning how to present it to participants in our trainings is something we can all discuss here.

Note:  I plan to emphasize Searching by Standards both State Standards and Common Core Standards.

Please note that we now have two search optioins. There is the EdGate search which you have located and the Search Community at the top right of the page where you may search for community blogs, documents, discussion, people by keyword and of course all member-recommended resources, both Thinkfinity resources and others from the Web that members are finding useful.

I'll be interested to hear how your training goes.

    Hi Forrest,

As many of us move to more standards based teaching, I think the State Standards search is very helpful. In trainings, I would focus on "what do you want students to learn" and have teachers search for that based on your state's standards. For example, below I searched the Colorado state standards for second grade language arts. I found great lessons and activities for teaching oral storytelling that I could use immediately! I like the fact that I can narrow down my search by standard, but still get varied resources. Good luck with your trainings!
