From making toast to a full-fledged meal, food preparation is an amazing way to integrate children’s learning across many areas—reading the recipe; gathering and measuring ingredients; applying coordination and skill to stir, slice, chop, etc.; observing the physical change as ingredients are melted, baked, chilled or frozen; and eating—the reward for learning (and perfecting) this important life skill.  This week’s Camp What-A-Wonder focuses on the chuck wagon and the popular American tradition of cooking outdoors. It’s a great kick-off for a fun (and rewarding) summer learning experience!
