I am using edmodo quite a bit. I am fortunate to have iPads in my class so edmodo is often accessed within the class rather than just an assignment to do at home. I like to post polls such as " 3 truths and a lie" to assess comprehension, get feedback from the students on how much more time they need on a project, also to post pictures for cartoon analysis . By posting the political cartoon the students can look at the picture on their iPad in stunning resolution and zoom in on the hard to see details. I have also posted an assignment and the students will submit their assignment to me via edmodo. This will allow me to grade it wherever without packing papers. I can leave comments as well as scores and it serves as a permanent location for the work that they have completed.
I use Edmodo daily. My students take all of their exams through Edmodo which is great because they, and their parents, can look back at each question. They also complete assignments on Edmodo. I upload all of the assignments that we have completed in class to the various folders so that those who are absent can access them. I post weekly news and videos as well. Students are able to share knowledge and help others so it creates a great atmosphere I love that the learning continues outside of the classroom as they frequently post in the evenings about topics discussed in class. There is this entire conversation going on outside of the class and they are having fun and do not even realize that they are working and learning. I also purchased one of the Edmodo apps for current events and they complete a current event each week through it. It is fantastic because the app has created the question, the poll, the article, and all of the resources. The students read all of the material, take the poll, answer the questions and submit. I rate their response and the grade is automatically posted. So easy!
