How can you use computers as an educational activity for children who speak languages you do not know?
ScienceNetlinks interactives solved this problem for me last week at an international charter school in Sweden. As part of their gold reward program, students earn points and have time in the library to work on computer sites that they choose.
When a group of 5th grade girls came to the library, they had no idea what they wanted to do. I suggested several Thinkfinity resources including ScienceNetlinks Gravity Launch. They had a wonderful time competing to see who could reach the highest level first. Their excitement echoed in the accents of four different languages including Arabic. It was amazing to see some children who could not understand English, accomplishing the goals of the activity just by watching where I pointed on the screen.
