Connie Louie, Retired Instructional Technology Director
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Connie Louie came to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in 1984. She was a technology specialist for the Office of Instructional Technology. Since 2001 Connie was the Instructional Technology Director for the agency . She had oversight over all instructional technology programs in the state. This included state and local technology planning, all technology grants programs, distance learning, and assistive technology. Connie was also responsible for managing MassONE (Massachusetts Online Network for Educators), the state’s instructional portal. The Office of Instructional Technology is responsible for setting guidelines/standards for the use of technology in Massachusetts schools.
Connie was a classroom teacher in Hong Kong as well as in Massachusetts before she joined the Massachusetts Department of Education. She received her Masters degree in Media Specialist/Technology Instruction at Boston College, a Masters degree in History of Education at the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor degree in History at the University of Hong Kong.
On January 6, 2012 Connie retired. Currently, she is enjoying her time with her grandchildren and doing voluntary work. Connie has three children and three grandchildren. She and her husband live in Newton, Massachusetts.
