Here are some additional websites that may assist you in teaching the War of 1812--
Let us know what you think of these links as you teach your middle school U.S. history class. Were any of these helpful? Did you find other resources that you would like to share?
As a quick follow up to this, I want to highlight one of these resources, which is the Collecting Stars activity on the National Museum of American History's Interactive Star-Spangled Banner website. Students navigate through the site and answer questions along the way, then can print out a certificate of completion with their name when they complete the activity. Teacher tell us they love it!
National Museum of American History
Streaming video of the complete two hour NEH supported film on the War of 1812.
What's really cool as well as useful for teachers is that film looks at the war from multiple perspectives: Black Americans, First Nations, Canadians, British as well as American point of view
There's also extensive lesson plans and a mobile app on the website.
