ReadWriteThink's Fractured Fairy Tales writing tool was featured in the Fall 2012 The Big Deal Book. FlashPlayer is needed, so I doubt it works on an iPad. But that's beside the point. Students are able to take a familiar fairy tale and change the setting, names of characters, and the plot. Students read an example first, then plan and write their own fractured tale. A print feature is available for a copy of the end product. As with most of the interactives, you aren't able to save unfinished work. There are lesson plan suggestions for various grades, and the interactive is suggested for use grades 3-12. Feel free to share how you have used this tool to support your Language Arts Curriculum.
