The all-new Electric Company is a modern re-creation of the 1970s classic that unlocked the power of words by speaking to its audience in the voice of their generation. By the end of the show’s original run in 1977, 35 percent of elementary schools were using The Electric Company in the classroom, with a successful educational impact seen in first- and second-grade classrooms across almost all of the 19 major curriculum areas built into the program.

Enlisting the help of literacy experts around the country, the new Electric Company was designed to address four educational goals: Phonics, Vocabulary, Comprehension of Connected Text, and Motivation. Here you will find videos clips, group activities, family and individual activity sheets, interactive games, and more that cover these curricular goals while entertaining and engaging the audience. The Electric Company connects with children, parents, and educators alike through the use of the freshest pop culture: celebrities, current music, and comedy delivered by compelling characters in both live action and animation. Its educational curriculum incorporates vocabulary words connected to topics and themes—from sports to music to outer space—that resonate with today’s kids.

The Electric Company highlights the exciting power of literacy skills and the impact they can have on the lives of young readers.
