I have been hearing so much recently about citizen science. It's an awesome initiative to not only get students connected with nature and the outdoors, but also to get them involved with science and environmental protection through data collection and sustainable projects. I know as an older child (teenager or pre-teen) I knew the importance of going outside, but I just couldn't find a good reason to stay outside for long. I needed a purpose, and citizen science gives students that and more.
At Science NetLinks, we have been trying to highlight some online and mobile tools that teachers can use to get their students engaged in citizen science activities.
