ReadWriteThink.org is proud to announce the newest addition to our collection of mobile apps! Our newest app, Word Mover, allows children and teens to create “found poetry” by choosing from word banks and existing famous works; additionally, users can add new words to create a piece of poetry by moving/manipulating the text. The app is available for the iPad and is coming soon for the Android tablet. Check out the Word Mover landing page for a description and then download it and create some poetic masterpieces of your own!

We have a few lessons that integrate the Word Mover app but would love your help in growing a collection of ideas for integrating the app into any learning experience—in school or at home. How would you use the app to engage your students in a lesson or unit? What strategies and goals do you see this app supporting or helping you reach?

Let’s use this discussion area as a place to share and find ideas for using the Word Mover mobile app. If you’ve used the app with your students, please tell us how it went. We’d love a sneak peek at a few poems as well!
