I am having a hard time navigating the new thinkfinity community. HELP!!!!!  I loved the old set-up.

How do I get to my homepage? How do I add bookmarks? It is very confusing now and hard to use. HELP.

    Hi Teresa:

Change can be daunting and we understand many members of the community had become quite familiar with the old structure. However, we think the new look offers even more personalization options and more focus on allowing community members to choose how to access content and interact more with each other. So, hopefully you will get used to it and enjoy some of the new features. Here is some information to help you with your questions...

The old homepage has been replaced by pages you see at the top of the red navigation bar, including, Activity, Inbox and Things to Do. The Help Center document below will tell you about these areas, the content they contain and, in some cases, how to customize the views.

    How to: Personalize Your View

To find your bookmarks, use the bookmark icon directly to the left of the search box in the red navigation bar. To learn about adding bookmarks, take a look at this Help Center document.

I'm with you Teresa - I'm somewhat horrified.  What is Thinkfinity thinking?  This can only give Verizon a bad name.  I feel sorry for all the people I referred to this site.  I can't find a single thing.  When I put in Pre-K - Math and the key word "interactive," (thinking I'll get something I can use with my special education students on a white board) I get "Interactive Geometry," "Learning about Rate of Change in Linear Functions Using Interactive Graphs," and "Understanding Congruence, Similarity, and Symmetry Using Transformations and Interactive Figures!"  Yikes!  I used to love the resources on this site, but plainly - not any more!

Two points on finding your favorite resources and please recognize the number of results will grow as more entries are added by EdGate to their database and more members bookmark their favorite resources in the community.

First, using the EdGate Search, think of searching by the state standards or state Common Core standards to find appropriate resources. Look for View Results to find resources that support each standard. Content Partners and EdGate are working to put more and more resources into the database. There is much ongoing  conversation with EdGate to get back some of the keyword search results with better cataloging.

Second, remember to search by keyword in the Search Community box in the upper right. Those results are resources that have been tagged by members. If we add good tags to our favorite resources as we bookmark then, searching will find good resources..

And third, I would encourage you to click on the various Content Partner logos at the bottom of the Thinkfinity homepage to go to a subject-specific Content Partner website and search there. You won't get results from across the Content Partners but you will find the resources you are looking for, I'm sure.

Just as an addendum to Jane's response, the Content Partners still provide the same wonderful interactives that you mention as resources you like for your white board.  When you search on the Content Partner websites, you will find the interactives.  Some partners refer to them by other names such as tools or activities.

In addition to the Content Partners, Thinkfinity also has some Supporting Contributors that offer additional resources to meet teacher needs.  You may want to check these out-- see the page http://www.thinkfinity.org/docs/DOC-9481--and especially take a look at our newest contributor Teachers' Domain.

Please let us know if we can offer further assistance.
