When talking to students about “What they want to be when they grow up”, you can start with the EconEdLink lesson called Wages and Me, where the students can research different careers and explore how much various professions pay.
After the students research careers and have an estimated salary, they can use the interactive titled When will you be a millionaire. Students type in numbers to see how long it will take for them to make 1 million.
Then the students can compare what happens when they put their money in a savings account vs the Stock Market or if they waste money on credit cards with Illumination’s interactive Compound Interest Simulator.
After seeing that when they put their money in the Stock Market their money appreciates quicker, they can use the interactive, Invest or Save, to learn more about the risks and gains of the Stock Market.
