I have learned that there was a huge division between social classes during this time. People with more money had better living conditions, running water, electricity, and plenty of food. Many of the immagrants and people with less money did not have these things. They lived in overcrowded tenements, which did not have luxturies such as running water or even furniture. The tenements were built away from other people, and they were not built to last. These people lived in horrible conditions and many of them died from illiness because of it. They did not have good jobs like other people, so they worked long hours for little pay.
Society was basically seperated into two different parts.
During the time of the Gilded Ages there were two different social classes: rich and poor. The poor society had not enough space to accommodate them and their families, the tenements they lived in were unsanitary, they had barely any clothes and food, some tenements had no electricity nor running water, received a treatment that would be considered out of this world by the rich social class, took whatever jobs they could find and in most cases they were the cheap horrible conditioned ones, and they had not enough money to afford items like the rich people could. While on the other hand, the rich had enough space in their houses, had running water and electricity, thought they were better than the poor, had enough food, good jobs, money, clean facilities, luxurious items, and many more things the poor could not afford to get.
I have leanred that if you were rich you were the main guy you owned a factory and everything you had slaves and people in poverty worked for you. If you were poor you had to work for the rich and had to live in tenements that housed very many people. the barely had enough room for the people that they housed. People really didnt have much if they were poor barely had clothes food.
I think are only two divisions of social class during this time. You were either wealthy or poor. The wealthy people lived good and had people do many things for them. They had good food and fine living conditions. The poor people normally lived in crowded places and even occasionally worked for the wealthier people. Poor people had terrible living conditions and lived in nasty places.
I have learned that there was a division between social classes that was not fair in any way. The people who were rich or had more money had more supplies, benefits, and better living conditions. The people who were poor did not have supplies, benefits, or good living conditions. Most of them lived in houses that were very over populated and very messy. As you can see the divisions were very different.
