Online Weekly Plans

My school is looking for a good website for teachers to post their plans for the week for student and parent access. We each post the plans, activities, homework, etc. for our classes. We were using schoolnotes and almost everyone hated it.

    Hello Stephanie,

Edmodo is awesome. Went to a training at ISTE and an online webinar two weeks ago.  It offers so many uses for the classroom teacher.   Join and got to the PD tab and view the tutorial and uses document.   I think you and your colleagues will enjoy.  It is a good free like Thinkfinity.  Let me know what you think.  Do you have school webpages?  If not Google website is easy to create and post information.

I started an engrade account for my school. this includes online grades, calendar, and parents and students can access. It helps with communication and parents can view all subjects using one code. Some teachers post more than others. The basic program is free and that is what we use.

I used schoolnotes in the past until our school switched over  to a district web site to post our homework; however, I have had great communication success with edmodo.com.  I can post homework for different classes, assignments, grades, communicate with students and parents in a private, invite only social networking site.  Check it out.  It offers tutorials but it is easy to navigate and the kids love it!  Good luck

If you decide to go with edmodo, I would get a free district account. This will give you some admin rights (access to changing passwords, data on usage) and you can have it directly linked from school.

To get a district account, click on Schools and Districts on the home page of emodo.

A great tool that I have just started finding great value in is Livebinder! It allows for each tab in the livebinder to be a class or unit or whatever the teacher decides is the best way to organize the class. http://www.livebinders.com/

Thank you to all who replied. I liked Edmodo, but I had a little trouble navigating or understanding what page I was on. I have a second question. Our school district seems to be leaning toward schoology.com. It's very similar to Edmodo and Facebook. Have any of you used it? It is free also. They also offer a per student subscription, but it is $2 more than Edmodo. What opinions do you have? Of course, it doesn't really make much difference. I won't have any input at all. :/
