Something you learned or found out about related to data for others to read.

Kids need to understand when they are setting up their graphs that they need to make equal intervals.

Students are often confused on how to best represent their data.  They can work with line plots, etc on separate assignments, but they have a difficult time using and setting up the graph properly.

Students do much better when they are gathering data that is relevant to them...it becomes much more meaningful.

TK-I need to do more work with them on establishing what needs to be included on the graph, for instance the equal intervals, also how the data can change and what it means when the data changes..

Lynne--I agree with you.  When students gather data that is releveant to them, it is definitely more meaningful.  It is also  important to expose my students to a variety of simple graphs such as line plots and bar graphs.  We spend a lot of time on reading the graph data, but we need to spend more time on analyzing the data (higher level thinking).
