Each year, the National Park Service and National Geographic bring citizens and scientists together to conduct a natural census of a region. This year, the BioBlitz will be held May 17-18 in Barataria Preserve, part of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve in southern Louisiana, just outside New Orleans. Once again, AAAS's Bob Hirshon will be there to report back with a series of video podcasts and blog posts during the 24-hour event. So keep an eye out for them in the Community Hub.
Our BioBlitz collection helps incorporate this event into your classroom and highlights Bob's previous BioBlitz coverage. Learn about biodiversity, different types of camouflage, and conservation biology. Conduct your own census, identify species, and aid in citizen science with help from apps like Project Noah, iNaturalist, and Project BudBurst.
