NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory rover Curiosity is due to reach the surface of Mars on August 5 at 10:31 pm PDT. Launched on November 26, 2011, the trip from Earth to Mars takes about 36 weeks. Curiosity is a mobile lab on a mission to study the planet’s climate and geology and, ultimately, Mars's "habitability."
