Thinkfinity is available anytime and anywhere. Just download the free Thinkfinity apps and any of the Content Partner Apps. Here are 6 ways to utilize Thinkfinity this summer.
Pour yourself a glass of iced tea and sip it while you view archived webinars. Check the Webinar Index found in the Professional Development space to discover ideas to use in your classroom. Perhaps your interest lies in looking at the BYOD model and the types of Apps to use for instruction. You might be looking at Edmodo for use in managing lessons. There are many available webinars from which to choose.
Participate in Discussions
Discussions are located throughout the Thinkfinity site. A good place to start is in The Lounge where folks gather to discuss topics of general interest. Read a few discussions, contribute your thoughts. Start your own discussion and check back for member participation. A good discussion starter will get members talking to each other.
The Verizon Thinkfinity Content Partners offer numerous resources. There are complete standards based lesson plans for all subjects. The lesson plans offer all learning objects associated with the plan. Take time to look for a particular subject that interests you. Locate a resource for a colleague and pass it on.
Practice using Interactives
The interactives available may be used by students to practice skills or learn new ones. Teachers may use an interactive in large group instruction to present a topic or a concept. By using the interactive you will be able to assist students if they encounter difficulties. Try Marble Mania and see suggestions for use in Math to teach probability.
Add Bookmarks to Thinkfinity
Read “How to Add the Thinkfinity Bookmarklet to your Browser”. Follow the directions given and you will be on your way to being able to ‘collect’ resources you find, not only in Thinkfinity, but on the web as well.
Join a Group
Join a group with similar interests. There are many groups to choose from. Consider joining the Common Core group where we will be focusing on various topics during the year that will help you understand the standards and how to address those in your classes. Follow the Professional Development space so you will know when the new webinars will be broadcast. Be aware that there is an event calendar available that will have the dates and times posted.
