We recently hosted a session at the IRA Annual Conference in San Antonio called "Using ReadWriteThink.org to Address CCSS and Engage Adolescent Learners."
The first part of the session was presented by Scott Filkins and focused on how to engage adolescent readers while keeping in mind the learning expectations set forth in the Common Core State Standards.
The second part was presented by Laurie Henry examining the SEARCH strategy to help students build and present an argument.
If this topic interests you, also check out the discussion thread about leveraging technology to get students to think more critically about text complexity. There's a great dialogue with some terrific resources provided as part of the discussion.
