Objective

Students will be able to identify and describe 3 forms of air pollution.

Students will determine cause and effect of events leading to animal rescue.

Students will be able to develop a plan to address future issues.

Students will make accurate predictions of the amount of paper within 10 sheets of paper.

Students will create a graph with relevant axis points and statistics.

Students will be able to gather data and create a graph accurately by using at least 8 points of data.

Students will be able to read and interpret data by  finding the mean  and range of data correctly.

Students will be able to create a commercial that illustrates how to recycle and gives 3 points on why they should recycle.

Introduction

Look at and discuss the pictures from the website listed below.

Ask what they know about oil spills, why they are bad. We will be looking at real world problems.

We will discuss what using paper does to the environment. How we can help.

  Tell students to record the amount of aluminum cans they use during 1 day by recording data on a worksheet.

Discuss importance of recycling and how to recycle.

Content Delivery

Students will read the information about air pollution and discuss what they learn:

Students will split into groups of three and follow directions for the experiement on the website:

Students will track the amount of paper used throughout 6 days and make predictions. Follow the directions on the website:

Have students brainstorm ideas on how to recycle and for a commercial to promote recycling:
