Technical Requirements

A Webinar is a live, interactive session, delivered via the Internet and a telephone connection. Webinars allow educators to participate in training from their schools or homes, as long as the basic technical requirements are met.

  • Attendees must have separate telephone and Internet lines
  • Attendees should have a high-speed Internet connection
  • A hands-free phone or speakerphone is recommended
  • Cellular telephones are not recommended
  • Attendee computers must have at least 256k of RAM
  • Attendees should download the following plug-ins prior to the session: QuickTime, Flash, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Shockwave, and JAVA. The Help page provides a description of these plug-ins as well as links to installation information.
  • Attendees should use a recommended operating system and browser: 
    • Windows Vista, 98, 2000 SP4, XP SP2, and 2003 R2
      • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 SP1, 7.0
      • Mozilla Firefox 2.0
    • Mac 10.3:
      • Apple Safari 1.3
    • Mac 10.4:
      • Apple Safari 2
  • Troubleshooting tip: if WebEx does not automatically install at the start of your session, manually run the automated installer and click the Set Up button.
