Verizon Thinkfinity offers professional development both online and in face-to-face trainings through a network of highly skilled trainers. While our State Education Partners offer local courses around the country, the national program offers online Webinars. All professional development provided by Verizon Thinkfinity is free.
The goal of the Verizon Thinkfinity Professional Development Program goes beyond training teachers how to navigate our site and use our search engine—it includes an emphasis on effective integration of our resources into the K-12 curriculum to enhance student learning. We also recognize that there is no one training method that works for everyone, so we encourage our trainers to customize trainings to the needs of their attendees.
Verizon Thinkfinity Professional Development employs a turnkey trainer model to meet the needs of educators. The national program offers train-the-trainer and end-user professional development trainings to support each State Education Partner's individualized program. The State Education Partners then have the flexibility to offer their own Thinkfinity Professional Development Program, share information about training delivered by the national Thinkfinity program with educators in their service areas, or a combination of both.
The library of national Verizon Thinkfinity Professional Development live and on-demand Webinars includes topics that range from program overviews for new users to in-depth logistical information for trainers. Our Professional Development team has developed dozens of support materials, many of them customizable, for trainers and users alike to assist in the delivery of training sessions or to use to explore Verizon Thinkfinity Web resources. In addition, Verizon Thinkfinity has created a comprehensive training database, nicknamed TIMS, where users can keep track of trainings they have attended or conducted, submit surveys and feedback forms, print certificates of attendance, and much more.
The International Society for Technology in Education completed a review of the Verizon Thinkfinity Integration Framework. ISTE determined that the program clearly supports implementation of the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T) in a specific, carefully reviewed and documented manner and prepares participants to substantially meet the following standards: 1a and 2a.
As a Professional Development Affiliate of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, Verizon Thinkfinity is dedicated to supporting the integration of the 4 C’s (critical thinking and problem solving; communication, collaboration; and creativity and innovation) into classroom environments.
