The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War in 1763.

The French and Indian War, fought between England and France and its Algonquin and Iroquois allies, arose out of territorial disputes over the Ohio Territory and parts of Canada. It eventually became a fight for colonial dominance in North America. On this day in 1763, two years after the English captured Montreal and effectively ended the fighting, the Treaty of Paris was signed. In the treaty, France ceded Canada and all its territories east of the Mississippi, except New Orleans, to the British.
