Her educational administrative experience includes working with and writing numerous grants, designing curriculum, and publishing timely articles in education and economics. Karen has been awarded several national, state and local teaching honors, but she says her most coveted award is the excitement of being a trainer for the Verizon Foundation.
Karen Horn has been a long-time advocate of the Thinkfinity program since the MarcoPolo days. Year after year, she continues to motivate and inspire educators to reach their full potential by challenging them to become 21st century teachers who advance their teaching practices.
Karen has always received great feedback both verbally and in written survey results and has delivered the most Thinkfinity sessions in Texas. In addition, she has been proactive in initiating and sustaining a Thinkfinity pre-service teacher program in Region 10 and has always collaborated with TCEA in our conference activities.
Thinkfinity is a success story that tells itself. Sharing with educators throughout the state the wonders of the Partner-developed materials and the incremental levels of education that can be achieved continues infinitely for those of us who are Verizon Thinkfinity Trainers. The quality and scope of the materials presented by the Partners brings to every classroom and every teacher the tools needed to raise the standards and quality of education in every discipline. For me, as a trainer, it is very exciting to face a group of teachers who have never been exposed to Thinkfinity and then have every one of them walk out of a training and say, "thank you so much" or "this program will allow me to integrate technology into my curricula, motivate my students and bring about a higher quality of education for the students and me." My answer to them is, "Thinkfinity makes good teachers great, and students even greater."
